A Five-Week Creative Journey | Drop-In Sessions Available

Join me, Elaine Foster-Gandey, a multi-media artist and arts educator, for an inspiring five-week Textiles workshop exploring Fabric collage, Contemporary Weaving, Soft Sculpture, Narrative Textiles and Eco Dying. We will be drawing inspiration from contemporary female artists who have inspired me over the years that I would like to share with you.

Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, I will help you develop confidence and creativity in a relaxed, supportive environment.

The workshop series starts on

Thursday 13th March & happen every Thursday until 10th April, 2-4pm

Work will be selected from participants to be part of our Easter Exhibition at Elaine Foster-Gandey Art, 15 Queen St, Lostwithiel, exhibition starting on Friday 11th April with our preview from 5-8pm and running until Saturday 26th April.

Week 1: Textile Collage & Storytelling (Inspired by Bisa Butler)

Focus: Fabric collage, portraiture, storytelling through textiles

Week 2: Abstract Textile Painting (Inspired by Sheila Hicks)

Focus: Weaving with unconventional materials, colour exploration

Week 3: Textile Sculpture & Soft Form (Inspired by Judith Scott)

Focus: Wrapping, binding, and sculpting with textiles

Week 4. Feminist Textile Art & Protest Banners (Inspired by Faith Ringgold & Tilleke Schwarz)

Focus: Narrative textiles, embroidery, and protest art

5. Botanical Dyeing & Sustainable Textiles (Inspired by India Flint)

Focus: Natural dyeing, eco-printing, and sustainable textile practices

Participants will be given a A4 work book to keep all the processes from the sessions in.

This is a Full Five-Week Course (13th March - 11th April) : normal cost £125.00. If you book the full five weeks you receive a 10% discount bringing the total to £112.50.

Drop-In Single Sessions: £25 per session

Elaine Foster-Gandey is an accomplished artist and textiles educator with over 40 years of professional experience in the fashion and art industries. Elaine’s company ‘Designer Sales UK’ was a pioneering gorilla style retail pop up that took stock and samples from high end brands and sold them to the general public. Her mission statement was, everyone should be able to look good no matter what background you came from’. Elaine saw her Designer sales as wrapping people in love with clothes.

Elaine combines her industry expertise with her creative passion to inspire and empower her students.

In 2024, Elaine showcased her work at the renowned Venice Biennale, reflecting her ongoing dedication to artistic innovation and excellence. Her teaching is deeply rooted in her own journey, blending practical techniques with conceptual exploration in mixed media and textiles.
